    Yesterday, 27th January 2010

An orientation was held to give newcomers an brief experience of RS programme, introducing them to a new environment or situation. Yesterday, we, sec 2s, organized the RSP orientation course for the new sec 1s students. I believe it etched a bad impression of us to the sec 1s. We were rather disheveled, letting the teachers down and left us tinged with guilt. The course was meant to be an introduction for the sec 1s to the Regional Studies Programme. (At the end, they are expected to be a step closer to Malay culture, which includes traditional games, spices, musical instruments used by the Malays, and the language of Bahasa Indonesia.)The sec 1s are supposed to go through a treasure hunt may be called an amazing race (that is not amazing at all because of us and partly because of the sec 1s too! So you can’t blame us all too!).

But why? (Before that I disclaim any responsibilities coz I’m just a Game Master sitting outside the RSP room making “ clues “ and “ maps “ for them.)During the hunt, they were exposed to the aspects of Malay culture as stated above. They also get to play the Indonesian version of the spelling game, Scrabble. (I believe it is very tough for them considering the depth of the language they are exposed to) Then, I saw something that vexed me, I saw that
the one of the group was behind time and left out Jonathan and ran at top speed when the GM gave out the next clue to them.

The pathetic orientation ended with a acrimonious dispute over who is to blame for the highly unorganized orientation.
After the sec 1s are dismissed, all the sec 2s were given a deserved lecture session by our teacher-in-charge, Mr Leo and Miss Shyamira. As seniors, we were expected to be more mature, more disciplined and more organized than the juniors. However, some of us did not display the required expectations. I'll treat this as an lesson learnt and will improve on our leadership capabilities.

Frankly, it disaster could have been improbable if I was the Mentor for the orientation. But its too late now anyway.

To the sectional leaders of the different groups.

“ Err hmmm, ‘g0.0d’ job ,your performance have discredited yourself leadership capabilities’ ” said I acidly.

I’m not here to disparage you guys but I would be obliged if you head for my advice thus such things will be less likely to happen in the future. Dispel the dispiritedness and make a mental note to yourself, “ must do better next time “Hope this event wouldn’t overshadow the orientation for the sec 1s and the sec 2s. I hope the egoistical ( _()_sorry if this word is too harsh) leaders should make an effort to plan the orientation a few weeks before the event itself.

Sec 1s this year…Err how should I phrase it? Arrrgghhh, it makes me feel that
they are illbreds.Well I assume that you have seen seniors bullying juniors but
my classmate ( Jxxx Lxxx got humiliated by a sec 1 o.o) I feel venomous for my friend Jxxx Lxxx. Some sec1 was primping their hair while their team mates was
    participating actively in the activities.

I hope with the advent of time, the sec 1s can be more matured and think considerably for us.

    Show respect to seniors!

Sec 2s should be less shirky in planning the activity. Rest well knackered sectional leaders and try harder the next time. ^^

    Alone time. Nothing to do…
It’s much different than being alone.
To some, it’s a time to think, to relax, to unwind or to be revived.(if you are dead).
It inspires us. It rejuvenates us. And it makes us better.
Given some time to yourself and told to spend it doing something you love, what would you do?
    What’s your independence day?
“Sunday! “says Calvin, “I decide to devote time for physical training every week to build up on my fitness. Dad and I went jogging rounds and rounds round the stadium. I managed 3 rounds of jogging without stopping and 1 round of sprinting. I completed a total of 8 rounds round the stadium which is 3.2km.”

    That’s family day…

    Sunday 24th January
I went out for a stroll alone (prefer to be alone). I walked down the pavement toward the the garden for my lovely neighborhood.

“For some people, walking is just a way to get from one place to the other. For others it’s about staying fit,” says Hong yi.

Walking to me is it’s time to have gratitude and think about what happened in school today and reflect on it, sometimes revising in my mind what I learnt in school that day!
“Walking makes me feel calm and mentally ready for the next day.””
“Walks” usually take me outside to my neighborhood’s garden which’s slowly disappearing in Singapore.
    “It’s a gorgeous park,” I murmured.
“God didn’t create five birds for you and me. He created thousands,” he said. “It’s quiet time to get in touch with Him and enjoy His beauty and creation.”
“I like to call it my quiet yet enjoyable time with Him.”
Well, I didn’t totally left out my family. (>.<>

Last Friday, I went to Macdonald's at Changi Airport to have lunch with my friends.(Hong Kai,Jun Hong, Wayne, Joseph, Justin, Hugo, Ian and Jared ...) By right, Xiang Zheng was joining us at Macdonald's so Hong kai,Jun Hong and I waited at the foyer for him while he has a meeting with Mr. Leo and several other students from 2A.Little did we knew that, XZ changed his schedule last minute and decided to have lunch in school instead of joining us at Mac.( Darn him, make us
wait for so long >.<) We shouldn’t have waited for him if we had knew. In a jiffy, we arrived at Changi Airport. We hastened our speed towards Mac. Along the way, caught sight of a Signboard : Uniquely Singapore. It reminds me of a book called ‘ English as it is broken’, regarding the usage of the word ‘ Uniquely’ in the slogan. LMAO!! Q: The word ‘Uniquely’ is an adverb and not an adjective. An adverb is a part of speech that modifies a verb, adjective, or other adverb other than a noun. As such, we should say ‘Unique Singapore’ and not ‘Uniquely Singapore’. For example, we say ‘Happy Singapore’ and not ‘Happily Singapore’. A: Advertisers sometimes use language in an unconventional way for effect, so the language used in advertising has to be taken in its appropriate context. A slogan has to grab attention and capture the spirit of the product. Unique can be used as an adverb- e.g. this experience refers uniquely to Singapore We do say, ‘sincerely yours’… --------- After we had our meal, all of us went home…

Recently, I'm having lots of homework from my teachers and Chinese new year is round the corner, which means there’s more performance coming up for my CCA.( Chinese Orchestra)Practice on Monday, Thursday and Saturday…(Tomorrow need to report to CO at 8.30am!) I have to finish my homework after coming back from CCA >.< (around 6pm)
and write my diary! Gosh, you might think that with so much homework, it wouldn't be
possible for me to do anything else except for work and practising my instrument. Heheh, you’re wrong. I’m still able to set aside some time for me to play computer games! (Maple Story)The key factor is time management!

Assume that life is a very big container.( Treat this like an algebra sum) Each ball represents effort that you put into your studies and work. Let each grain of sand be the time
you spend playing. There will be 2 outcomes
    1) Study first then play
Since each ball represents effort you put into your work, it would fill up the container first. Then, you play and the sand would eventually fill the gaps between the balls. This maintain the equilibrium between studying and playing.

    OR

    2) Play first then study
However,if you decide to play first ,the sand would fill up the container first and you will realized that it would be impossible to put in any more effort into your work.( in this case the balls into the container)That’s where you fall out with the other students.

    Choose your path...

This 4 SST (Smart Study Tips) is how I hinder myself from being suck into cyber world.

    1) Study in a quiet and comfortable place with enough lighting. Make sure it is free of things that may distract you, such as the television, computers and comic books.
    2) Take a break when you’re are really knackered.
    3) Make a list of things you need to do or study each day to help you keep track of your time
    4) Be consistent in your efforts. Start preparing early for tests and exams so you don’t panic and rush at last minute.(That’s why time management is so important)

Ops, I’ve repeated my mistake. Just now play too much MapleStory, that’s why
I posted my diary entry this late >.< Sorry for the disappointment. ^.^

Today, after my science tuition, I was feeling thirsty so I decided to patronized the bubble tea shop near my tuition centre. (I think I should have gotten myself
a bottle of Fuji apple instead of bubble tea .LOL.) The queue was awfully long!(I wonder why people got into a craze for bubble tea today >.<) Then there was this boy(around my age) grapping a soccer ball in his left arm while placing his order.
He was wiping perspiration off his glistening forehand every now and then.

“Auntie, 一杯青苹果奶茶! (Green apple milk tea),” I placed my order.

Then the previous customer, who was the boy, demands a carrier bag form the stallholder. Then after that, when my milk tea was ready. I demanded a plastic bag from the stall holder like the previous customer. When I turned around, I
realized that a woman were staring at me. I thought: What’s wrong asking for a
plastic bag lah? I walked away sheepishly…

Oh my gosh! I wasn’t aware that my mum has a collection of plastic bags!!
    (Pictures will be uploaded)

While savoring the cup of milk tea, I was doing so research about “Black death” The exact death toll is difficult to measure from medieval sources. The number of deaths varied considerably by area and depending on the source. Current estimates are that between 75 and 200 million people died from the plague.
Many believed that the plague was a divine scourge to punish the people for their sins. Hmmmmm, so what if Singaporeans use too much plastic bags and god
decides to punish us for causing global warming? Can u imagine what will happen? The whole Singapore population get wiped out.

Vs will be gone forever… >.<
    Victorians,
cut down on the usage of plastic bags to save our school!!(especially Jing Ling!!)
